Meet the Experts
SOCHI ET is driven by six Ethiopian professionals from diverse disciplines, united by shared concern for children’s online safety.

Workineh is a journalism educator and researcher at Jimma University, with professional experience as a freelance journalist for BBC News and Addis Zeybe. He is dedicated to advancing media literacy and youth empowerment in Ethiopia. Currently, he focuses on creating a safe digital world for children, integrating research and practice.

Kuno serves as a Judge at the Addis Ababa City Court and is a trained facilitator with extensive experience in law, gender, and peacebuilding. Passionate about advancing children’s digital safety, she focuses on addressing gaps in the legal framework and promoting inclusive justice through responsible digital engagement.

Lidia is a PhD student with rich teaching experience in social work and psychology at Jimma University. Beyond academia, she has served as a trainer in peace education and gender issues, equipping participants with skills for inclusive dialogue. Her work explores social issues with a focus on children’s online safety.

Amanuel is an AI and Telecom Network Expert with over eight years of experience in enterprise infrastructure and digital solutions. Currently at Safaricom and Sematha Technologies, he has contributed to major international projects including LOPAD and BETTEReHEALTH, focusing on EdTech innovation and scalable platforms.

Firomsa is an Ethiopian educator and media professional with over a decade of experience at Jimma University. A Young Media Professionals Fellow (2023), he is skilled in digital storytelling and passionate about creating safe social media platforms. He also volunteers as a writer, editor, and translator.

A Full Professor at Jimma University, Prof. Berhanu's work bridges academic research and community impact. With over 50 published articles, he serves as a senior consultant in education, mental health, and psychosocial affairs, specializing in resilience, emotional intelligence, and youth empowerment.
